GLAZED UNITS GUARDIAN AND SAINT-GOBAIN

The glass of a window is especially important when it comes to guaranteeing heat and sound insulation. A window has to make your home safe, energy efficient and quiet. The glass makes up more than 75% of the window surface, which means that it’s important for the insulated glazing to be of good quality and the solution thoroughly considered. Glazed units usually include two or three panes of glass that have been hermetically joined. Between the glass there is either air or an inert gas, and the edges are sealed with a special kind of mastics to ensure a hermetic seal.

Double-glazed windows are made of glass that is 4-8mm thick, and usually the internal pane is glass with a selective film coating. This film reflects the heat rays escaping from the room back inside, which helps decrease heat loss and improves the glazed unit’s thermal insulation by 100%.

The modern energy requirements demand an even higher degree of thermal insulation, which is why the space between the panes is filled with either argon or krypton gas, which are both heavier than air. Using argon in double-glazing with a 16-18 mm space profile improves the window’s thermal isolation by ca 25%. With triple glazed windows, 14-20 mm air spaces and two energy saving classes guarantee the optimal thermal insulation.

The selective film and the gas do not affect the window’s tint and do not reduce light transmittance. Plasto also offers double and triple glazed units, as well as thermal layer between the panes, which improve the thermal insulation of the window by another 5-10%. To reduce noise, we use special sound damping (SILENCE) glass, which ensure the best sound insulation.

The insulated glass used by Plasto in its windows is manufactured by Sabonio and SGGS Baltiklaas. Sabonio is the leading manufacturer of insulated glass units in Lithuania. Sabonio is an internationally recognized company, holding an ISO 9001 certification. More detailed information on insulated glass units can be obtained by clicking on the links below.
